Blog No. 23 of 2025
Welcome Friday and the weekend!!!!
As much as I am fighting AI and ChatGPT, which as I’ve said in this blog before, was not used in writing this or anything else I write for that matter, I was interested in seeing how the Frost Science Museum was presenting their take on it in their newest exhibit “AI: More Than Human.”
So, Vance and I attended the Members Preview of the exhibition on Friday night. They’ve got an interesting take on the subject, providing a timeline for how AI has evolved, taking it back to the first glimpses of it hundreds of years ago. I’d say it’s an interesting show with plenty of interactive areas and worth a visit. The photos above are of the specific areas that spoke to me.
Saturday was a jam packed day. While Vance was off playing golf, I gave Nick and his buddy Geno a ride to Aventura Mall. While they were enjoying lunch at The Cheesecake Factory with their Best Buddies crew, I walked from one end of the mall to the other. I hadn’t been there in a while so decided to grab lunch too. I opted for their food court Treats where I enjoyed a healthy vegetarian bowl at Yalla Motek where they serve ridiculously fresh Mediterranean street food.
That night, Vance and I went to dinner with our crew… couples Kevin and Michelle and Rick and Adina. Adina asked for my restaurant recommendation so I chose Moshi Moshi in Mimo on Biscayne Blvd. and as always, it didn’t disappoint. We ordered sushi, the ceviche tasting and dumplings to share, and I ordered their seaweed salad which everyone loved too. Ramen was the popular entree with Rick, Vance, Kevin and Michelle ordering that, while I ordered the fried rice and shrimp tempura and Adina ordered the Japanese curry over rice with chicken. As always, we brought home lots of leftovers.
We then headed over to The Citadel, a food hall in Little River where we had ice cream and cocktails. Yup, dessert and after dinner drinks, a delectable combination. There’s a couple of great bars there, one inside the food hall and the other on the rooftop. Let’s just say, the proper daiquiri makes you pucker from the limeiness but it’s delicious. Oh, and the ice cream is creamy deliciousness too!
And that’s it for outings for this week, yes, it was a quiet week for me. GASP!
But I can’t leave you without sharing a few other things…
My first buddy profile for Best Buddies. Click here to read it! I was so excited to see this finally happen, it’s been a longtime dream of mine to write this type of article and I know there will be more to come! I can’t say enough about how important these friendships are in showing the importance of inclusion.
My latest article for Biscayne Times, a roundup of Summer reading recommendations by a group of literary experts. Click here to read that.
A fantastic series “History We Call Home: 100 Years of South Florida” on the WLRN website looking at several cities in South Florida turning 100 this year. They provide a thorough and fascinating look at when these cities were formed and how they’ve grown. Click here to read any of the ones they’ve already covered.
Lastly, I was tickled when the Miami Film Lab newsletter hit my inbox and I saw my nephew Danny’s face. They shared the video link to his talk with Miami Film Lab’s Jennifer Orta Castellanos in 2023 at Coral Gables Cinema where he was invited to discuss his career in the film industry in production and artistic design. Here’s a link to the video and click here to read the article I wrote previewing the entire series. And by the way, his brother Andy (who is also my Godson) is in the industry too and doing great work.
I leave you with one final parting shot above from my walks yesterday, one by the bay and one around Biscayne Park. It was so nice to get out and walk after we had so much rain earlier in the week.
That’s it for this week. Hope you have a great weekend and see ya next Friday!
