Blog No. 26 of 2025
And there it is, blog number 26 meaning we’re halfway through 2025. I’m going to be very cliche and say it… where’d the time go? OK, if you’re done with the eyeroll now, let’s get down to it.
A nurse shark and what looks like a huge tarpon, swimming by at Haulover Marina.
Haulover Park and Marina view on that gorgeous Saturday.
I have to say, Nick had the best idea on Saturday. After he had lunch at Five Guys and got a massage at Massage Envy accompanied by Vance and I grabbed lunch at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in the same plaza, all of these are close to our house, we went to Haulover Park Marina. The breeze there was fantastic, as was the ice cream sandwich I enjoyed. We had fun watching the boats go by, the nurse sharks swim by under the boats at the marina, and the people fishing under the pier. All in all, it was a lovely afternoon.
Sunday we headed to LoanDepot Park and watched the Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves. Always a fun way to spend the afternoon, the roof was closed so it was nice and cool and it was Billy the Marlin’s Birthday so lots of other mascots were in attendance.
I’m loving my new food rescue trips. I did my first one at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital on Monday and at Whole Foods in Edgewater where the staff are super helpful and friendly, on Tuesday. Then on Thursday I went to Nicklaus Children’s again and followed that with a drive to Kiki on the River restaurant where I picked up frozen meat and took it to the Miami Rescue Mission’s A Caring Place.
I’d had an entire week without any cultural outings so last night I attended the opening reception of the exhibition “Across Ebb & Flow” at Barry University’s Monsignor William Barry Library which was presented by Rosie Gordon-Wallace and her group from Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI). On display is black and white photography by artist Amanda Bradley and a multi-media installation by artist L.A. Samuelson, showing through Sept. 20. Both exhibitions are very impressive.
That’ll do it for this week. I leave with a few parting shots, one of the cute neighborhood cat that we feed all the time and the other of the beautiful views of Downtown Miami.
Oh and don’t forget to check out Artburst Miami for all the latest arts news around Miami and South Florida on the Cheap for fun stuff to do that won’t break the bank!
And with that I say goodbye, but only until next Friday, when I’ll have more fun stuff to tell ya!
Nick and I at Cracker Barrel in Fort Pierce on our way to Merritt Island today.
Today was a white knuckle drive up to Merritt Island through some heavy downpours but Nick and I still made great time. Tonight we’re doing dinner with my niece Nicole, her husband Tariq and their kids Mazen and Ramzi. Tomorrow we’re planning to take a dolphin watching boat ride in the late afternoon and on Sunday we’re catching up with our friends Kevin and Michelle who are up in Orlando this weekend.
That does it for this week.
