Hello! I’m back.

Let’s take it back to last Friday when I saw “The Spitfire Grill” at Actors’ Playhouse and had dinner at Sushi Maki with my sister Ana. We were supposed to have gone to Sushi Sake but I messed up and went to Maki instead. We had a nice dinner but I owe her a dinner at Sushi Sake. We enjoyed the play, which started off a bit slow but built up into a great second act. The show runs through Nov. 2nd.

On Wednesday, I did my third food rescue of the week, driving out to Hialeah to pick up lots of sorbet that I then delivered to the Lotus House where they as always, accepted it with much gratitude.

The birthday girl, my sister Mari with her decadent brownie sundae and our great niece Hailey in the background, at Flanigan’s Coconut Grove yesterday.

My niece Elena’s son Jojo, looking so handsome in the car on the ride to Flanigan’s yesterday.

Yesterday was my sister Mari’s birthday and the sisters, my niece Elena and her son Jojo and my great nieces Hailey and Kate all took her for a fun dinner at Flanigan’s in Coconut Grove. They brought out a delicious brownie sundae for her and the whole place sang her happy birthday. It was a fun night.

Today, I’m headed to Bookleggers Library in the Bakehouse Art Complex to attend Creative Mornings. I’ve been attending Creative Mornings for years but haven’t been in a while so since it’s at one of my favorite places ever, I have to attend. If you’ve never been to Bakehouse I recommend a visit to this historic building in Wynwood. You’ll love all the artist studios, the library and their newest tenant the Miami Paper & Printing Museum. It’s a great way to spend the day.

Saturday, after I volunteer at the Food Rescue South Florida’s Farmer’s Market, we’re going to a pumpkin carving party at my friends Janet and Ruben’s house then from there, going to the annual Halloween party at Casa Sharfstein where Adina will no doubt outdo herself once again with the decor and food. She and her husband Rick throw a great party.

Sunday I’m going to Gramps in Wynwood to watch my great niece Kaitlyn perform with Miami Girls Rock Camp. Gramps is set to close in January 2026 so it will be cool to hang out and watch her perform before this iconic Wynwood spot closes for good.

I’m really excited to share my latest article for Artburst Miami about Miami-Dade County’s National Alliance on Mental Illness Reel Minds Film Festival. The short films screened at the festival all tackle the subject of mental illness as part of the organization’s mission to de-stigmatize the issue. Click here to read the article.

SAVE THE DATE: I love the Miami Book Fair and attend every year and if you love books too, know that the Miami Book Fair’s lineup has been announced. Click here map out your plan for attending the Evenings With talks with authors during the week and the happenings during the final three days when the Street Fair happens. Dates are Nov. 16-23 and the Street Fair is Nov. 21-23, all taking place at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in Downtown Miami.

And because it’s October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I honor all my close friends and relatives who have been affected and applaud their bravery and resilience.

We’re inching ever closer to the end of 2025 so let’s make these last few months count, enjoying life and treasuring the good things.

Until next week…

Walking the nature trail at Arch Creek Park in North Miami on Tuesday morning.
